The moisture control render system BOTAZIT® RENOVATION

Permanent moisture in brickwork is the most frequent cause for damage to the building fabric and for a loss in property value resulting from this.

How does the moisture enter the brickwork?
Moisture presence is most commonly caused by capillary rising ground moisture, moisture that enters the brickwork from the sides, or by rain or splash water impact.
Salts that are detrimental to the building fabric are the arch-enemy of building structures.
They are practically always found to be the primary cause for moisture damage in old buildings.
Groundwater contains small amounts of soluble salts, amongst which are chloride, nitrates and sulphates. Dissolved in water these rise in the brickwork and when evaporating they leave a residue which quickly leads to lasting damage, depending on the level of salt concentration and moisture content inside the brickwork.

What are the consequences?
Moisture in brickwork often causes problems such as damp, cold walls, unsightly spalling of the render, mould formation and a musty smell.
Permanent moisture in the brickwork not only damages the building fabric in the long run, but also poses a risk to human health when mould is present.
The most frequent cause for interior mould infestation is almost always the presence of moisture content.
Mould infestation can cause allergies and respiratory difficulties and usually goes hand in hand with unpleasant smells.
Due to its natural raw material basis and its mode of operation the moisture control render system
BOTAZIT® RENOVATION prevents mould and fungal formation.

A fast, lasting and cost-effective solution: BOTAZIT® RENOVATION
The moisture control render system BOTAZIT® RENOVATION FRP is used to restore moist brickwork. The composition of this render system with its special pore geometry makes it possible for water to evaporate at the surface, whereby the salts are transported to the render surface without clogging up the capillaries (hence no wasted render). In case of high salt loads potentially forming salt deposits can simply be brushed or vacuumed off.

The moisture control render BOTAZIT® RENOVATION FRP is furthermore able to absorb excessive inside air humidity, which is released again by simply airing the respective space. This way no condensation settles on the render surface, which is usually the foundation for an unhealthy, musty room climate where mould thrives. The moisture control render system BOTAZIT® RENOVATION creates a pleasant and healthy room climate coupled with lasting beautiful walls that have a sound render surface!

Comparison with other systems
Repair renders store salts in rather large pores (so-called wasted renders). These by their very nature start to clog up sooner or later, depending on salt loading, so that further advancing salts can no longer be absorbed.
The diffusion performance ebbs off.
The pressure of further advancing salts results in the repair render flaking off the wall.
Because of its particular pore geometry BOTAZIT® RENOVATION FRP features a drying out performance that is 15 times better (up to 2,100 g/m2 per day) than that of repair renders. This significantly reduces the capillary rise in the brickwork. This drying out performance remains almost constant.
